FINAL BLUE NOTES OF THE 2005-2006 SEASON
The last call for purchasing tickets for Sunday’s concert at
the pre-concert rate is fast approaching. See Anne Harkonen or Paul
Siegal SOON.
Last minute requests for complimentary tickets should be given to
Len Barker now.
Tuesday evening we rehearse with the orchestra at Pick-Staiger beginning
at 7:00.
Saturday evening we have our “dress” rehearsal at Pick-Staiger
beginning at 6:30.
Sunday afternoon we gather for our warm-up at Pick-Staiger at 1:30.
The concert begins at 3:00; our 70th birthday reception begins immediately
afterwards.
A small display featuring items from NSCS history will be in the
Pick-Staiger lobby on Sunday. Be sure to stop by and take a backward
look at some of our past performances. Many thanks to Melinda Kwedar
for developing this project and donating the display boards.
On Tuesday, June 13, beginning at 7:30, Wylie Crawford hosts the
listening party in his home at 701 Sheridan Road in Evanston. Bring
an edible or potable goodie to share.
Over $1500 in donations was received last week. That’s a good
start, but much more is needed in order to help fund next year’s
concert season. Remember that an anonymous donor will add $10.00 to
each of our contributions.
The Shostakovich CDs are here. Please help yourself—but only
if you’ve paid, please. If you haven’t, now’s the
time.
A friendly reminder from Harry Vroegh: Insofar as possible, postpone
your summer shopping spree at Jewel and Osco until June 12, 13, and
14, when NSCS receives five percent of what you spend in these stores
with the special coupons. Take several and share them with your neighbors
and other friends. Please be a Held. (However, do not shop till you
drop; we’ve seen enough Menschenblut the past few Schumann rehearsals.)
Willkommen to Jewel and Osco!
And an equally friendly message from Anthony Green: Because of complications
due to summer vacations, I will have to ask for payment in advance
for CDs of the Schumann concert: $15.00 for one, $20.00 if two are
needed. The listening party is a good opportunity to place an order.
Checks should be made out to Bill Stribling, as usual. If pick-up
at my house is not possible, I’ll mail them for an additional
$1.60.
Hats off to these 24 singers who--according to the records of the
six section coordinators—thus far have perfect attendance for
the Schumann concert:
Marcia Maus Bollo, Glen Borntrager, Else-Britt DeLong
Antje Draganski, Fusayo Errico, Lorena Estrada
Nancy Friday, Lucinda Fuller, Anne Harkonen
Jill Horwitz, Anne Humphrey, David Hunt
Mary Ann Kissock, Inge Kistle, Alexandra Lexton-Metzner
Julie McDowell, Anna Roosevelt, Patricia Seidl
John Shea, Myra Sieck, Roxann Specht
Erica Sufritz, Charlotte Thiemecke-Floyd, Harry Vroegh
