NSCS is pleased to welcome members of the Chicago Women's AIDS Project (CWAP)
as guests to our December concert as part of a newly developing outreach program
headed by Karen Rigotti. CWAP provides support groups, case management, and
other services for women with AIDS and their families. Additional outreach
to choruses similar to NSCS that suffered losses in recent hurricanes is being
investigated. Any ideas for other such efforts are greatly appreciated.

Looking ahead to Christmas? Here are some gift ideas:
Hard to buy for? Why not put a donation to NSCS on your shopping list. The
giver will know you'll be happy (and can receive a tax deduction as well).
Note cards imprinted with a facsimile of a portion of the original manuscript
of Handel's Messiah make good gifts for many people (think hostesses
and teachers) and handy items to have available for thank-you messages. Only
$10.00 for 20 quality notes and envelopes, with $5.00 of that amount going
as a donation to NSCS. See them on the back table this evening.
Enchanted Remembrances , a woman's story of growing up in a 19 th
century world of famous musical personalities, may be just the thing for someone
on your list. Half the price of $20.00 becomes a contribution to NSCS. See
Inge Kistler.
Shop on line? Join iGive.com , which provides links to many popular
buying sites. And, once again, NSCS profits with a small percentage of each
purchase.
The North Wave Chorus presents its first annual holiday show at 3:00 P.M.
on Saturday, December 10. Call member Phil Martin at 847/475-3562 for details.
Steve Warner and his wife, Anne Heider, are co-chairs of the forthcoming Anniversary
Singing of the Chicago Sacred Harp Singers, on Sunday, January 8, 2006, at
the Irish American Heritage Center , 4626 North Knox in Chicago . The singing
is an all-day affair, 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., punctuated by a potluck "dinner
on the grounds" at midday. Songs are taken from the Sacred Harp ,
a tunebook using "shaped notes" and containing American folk hymnody
dating from the early 18 th to the late 20 th century. Anyone capable of singing
in North Shore Choral Society is capable of singing Sacred Harp; even if they
weren't, they'd still be welcome to join in for all or part of the day. Loaner
books will be available. For more info, call the sacred harp hotline, 773-276-HARP.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING !
